International Open Air Festival Jazz at the Old Town is one of the most popular and biggest, considering the number of the public, jazz festivals in Poland. It is also an artistic representation of Warsaw as well as a great attraction for music lovers and tourists from Poland and abroad. Over 15 years of its existence, the festival had an impressive half a million of viewers of all ages. Each concert has an audience of up to 4 thousand and each edition gathers about 40 000. It is one of the oldest festivals in Poland and Europe. It lasts for 2 summer months with concerts given each Saturday in July and August.
Original programme – different styles, international stars, premiere concerts and jazz discoveries characterize the festival. Polish public for the first time had a chance to listen to the greats of the swing era - Scott Hamilton, Duffy Jackson, Dr. Lonnie Smith, as well as discoveries of the American scene - „Quincy Jones Presents Alfredo Rodriguez Trio” and „ Princess of Jazz” Grace Kelly Quintet.
Most outstanding Polish musicians like: Tomasz Stańko, Michał Urbaniak, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Leszek Możdżer presented their new projects on our stage.
In last editions such greats of jazz world performed as well Archie Sheep, David Murray, Chico Freeman, Richard Galliano, Tony Lakatos, Bill Evans, Dino Saluzzi, Kenny Wheeler, Avishai Cohen, Bobo Stenson, Yaron Herman, Marilyn Mazur.
For years the festival is present in the most important national and foreign media and in tourist information leaflets. It was featured on BBC World and TV Deutche Welle made a documentary about it.
The Festival is among outstanding events in Warsaw and is in the programme ESK 2016 Warsaw the European Cultural Capital.
